Dead Stop.

Classic Dead Stop shirt here. Very 80's looking. Think Negative Approach. Got some other Dead Stop shirts to post so you can compare.

Flattbush will start playing tomorrow in Bulacan, Cavite on Saturday and Quezon City on Sunday afternoon. Will probably be going in the Sunday show. See you all.

Red Sox are currently on a slump after facing the demolition job of Cliff Lee (good thing he spurned the Yanks!) and then yesterday, they got beat even with Lackey dominating. The batsare silenced so they're due to erupt against Cole Hamels and Jon Lester will hopefully throw a gem. We'll see.

Review: Grind Matador 'Demo' CD-R.

Usually,I don't do reviews without any lyric sheet, covers, etc. This demo was given to me by the guys from GM but unfortunately they were not able to make any covers to accompany this demo. This is a live recorded demo and it fits them quite nicely. The player says it has 15 tracks but it all goes by in a blur. Insane fastcore, not the generic grindcore we've been hearing lately. Comparisons to Iron Lung cannot be mistaken. Really awesome fastcore sht here. Got to see the lyrics though. No contact info either.

Flattbush!

As earlier posted, Flattbush will finally be in our shores this coming weekend. Here are a couple of posters for their coming shows. I'll try and post the posters of the other shows once I come across them. Don't miss out on these shows!

Review: Dispute 'Positivity Can Suck It!' Demo CD-R.

Another one of the really good bands that played during the recent 'New Blood' show at Ten02. The first thing that will catch your eye is the awesome packaging taking a rip at the classic 'Chung King' cover and this time pertaining to an inside joke with Positivity Studios. This demo has three (3) songs of well played fast youth crew hardcore with some posi lyrics to boot. I think their heads are in the right places when they shout 'Destiny is a matter of f'n choice!'. Nice.

These guys hail from Las Pinas City and are playing their shows all over the metro so I suggest that you check them out soon. Really good effort on this demo. It's free by the way so be nice and try to ask them for a copy. (1740 Records. No address or e-mail ad)

Terror LS boot for the rainy season.

Terror longsleeves as printed by the guy from Northern Territory. Keepers of the Faith not Keepers of the Flood. Damn rains kept the metro flooded for two days now.

The Grand Hotel Paradox show tonight was cancelled earlier. Fck the rain man.

Good stuff to do in the rainy season: Grand Theft Auto, Mafia II in PS3. Eating, sleeping.

Bad stuff. FLOOD. I hate flood (waddup to Mr. Z from Malabon!)

Curry.

Awesome curry concoction done by the guys at Likha Diwa. Spicy and gingerly taste with that unfried tofu, potatoes, beans, carrots. Really good sht your veggies spicy.

Good stuff: Spending Father's Day with three (3) generations of Nuestros (my pops, me and my kid) in a very foggy Tagaytay afternoon and then heading to my locale in Indang, Cavite for my cousin's birthday. Long drive but a lot of fun especially because of the cold, wet weather. Also managed to hang out with the Sunday Youth Crew. Dope sht.

Review: Mihara '...We Should Make A Move To Go Back To Him' CD-R.

Mihara from San Pedro, Laguna has been around for a long time (and as indicated, the recordings took place from 2005 - 2009) and I think this is a discography of sorts of the band. This CD-R contains nine (9) songs including a cover of 'No Spiritual Surrender' by Inside Out. The band definitely has a 90's feel to it, a throwback to huge pants, chokers, corduroys, XL shirts but more so because of their affiliation with Krishna consciousness as some members of the band are devotees if I'm not mistaken.

Lyrics range from spirituality and animal rights to standing up and fighting for what you believe in. The recording quality could have been better. The lay-outs given me to are photocopied so it's harder to read but all in all you can feel the effort put forth in this release. Don't know if they're still playing but to get a copy of this CD-R, contact: jaye_yator@yahoo.com.

Review: Standout 'For My Brothers' Demo CD-R.

Finally got hold of the recorded materials of this crew from San Pablo City. I've seen them for a couple of years now and this is the first time I actually heard them on record. This is a 3-song demo recorded on December 2008 and I don't know if they have new materials available.

Standout plays staight up hardcore with less metal influence than necessary. Think of the fast parts of Floorpunch with the "mosh" parts of Hatebreed and you get the idea. The vocals could have used a more yelled rather than screamed delivery which usually works for the music. The quality of the recording is pretty good for a demo (not an EP, please). The packaging though, leaves little to be desired. Work on the packaging boys.

Two of the songs deal with family and friends and the last song is a positive song about standing up whenever you get knocked down. Nice positive lyrics.

On a side note, I think 3 of the 4 members of the band are brothers. Cool.

No contact info provided.

Guest: Denver, Turning Point.

Guest starring this time is Denver, drummer extraordinaire or Bystorm with an awesome TURNING POINT shirt. Love the colorway on this one with a classic live shot on the back. Except for the TP, Beastie Boys rip, this is gotta be their best shirt.

Good stuff; Bruins winning the Stanley Cup, Beckett throwing a one-hitter against
Tampa Bay.

Shepherds The Weak.

Lots of touring bands for the upcoming weeks. Check out Shepherds The Weak from Hong Kong as they play in Amnesia Bar in Binan, Laguna. I think we had a chance to play with them once when they first went here. Not sure but I thought they sounde like Coal Chamber at the time. Check em out if you can.

Got a bunch of reviews coming from the stuff I picked up in the New Blood show as well as some pending reviews. Just need to get some time off.

Champ at last.

One of my favorite players is finally a champ. Jason Kidd. Hell yes. It's just much sweeter that they did it against those chumps from Miami. F'n choke artists. Those guys will never be champions. They don't have the heart.

Currently playing: Mafia II.

Red Sox. Red Hot.

The Red Sox are on the midst of a nine game winning streak having swept the last three series against Oakland, NY and Toronto. Hell f'n yes. Papi's bat has been on fire while A-Gon has been the driving force behind these Sox. Not to mention the spectacular pitching of the staff. Yes.

Enough about baseball, last night's show was awesome, bands came to start the show early and was surprised to see bands I've seen for the first time such as MOF and EAT ALL YOU CAN. Also have a bunch of demos from all the bands that played that night. Great stuff!

RAIVORAITTUS was absolutely devastating last night which made everyone's jaw dropped. Their guitarist was like a maniac flailing his guitar everywhere. This band is f'n intense. Although this is their last show here, I guess they will still be staying somewhere in the metro for another week before they head back to Thailand. Too bad they don't have any records left for sale. Bummer.

Up next: Grand Hotel Paradox!

Terror 'LA Hardcore'.

Here is an older Terror shirt. Nice use of the skull logo. Has a nice West Coast feel to it.

We'll see you all later at the New Blood show at Ten02. Show starts at 4:00 PM. Go out and support newer bands. They'll have materials available today so make sure you get one.

Currently playing: Mafia II (nice grpahics, story, but hurts my head sometimes..)

Alterna-Greens.

This was a term I coined up when you try other viands from Greens other than sisig, relleno or bbq. This is part of their budget meal. They got about 2 to 4 viands during lunch time. Right now its menudo and some weird tofu concoction. Meh.

Didn't have a really good Sunday though. Need to adjust. Adapt and overcome. Went to Cavite today and had a great time at work.

Flattbush in the Philippines.

Now here's something to look forward to this July. Flattbush will finally be hitting up our shores to show them what they're about. After more than a year when Eskapo delivered the goods, Flattbush will be doing a couple of shows to the delight of the local kids. Should be great shows too! Show your support to our hc punk brothers from the US of A.

Details of the tour will be posted later!

Currently listening: Rush IxDx live tracks c/o Sannee Crapsalad. Thanks buddy!

New Blood. New Flyer.

Here is the updated flyer for the New Blood show happening on June 12, 2011 @ Ten02. Sunday Matinee, which means you show up early or you don't get to see the bands you came for. Gates open at 3:30. Show starts at 4:00 PM. Ends at 8:00 PM. You know the drill.

Currently listening to: Verse 'Rebuild'.

PS. Almost forgot to write how the Heat choked with a 15 point lead, 7 minutes in the 4th. Revenge time for the Mavs.

X-Men: First Class.

I have low expectations for this movie as I thought that milking the X-Men universe has already dried up but I was amazed by the creativity thrown into the characters, Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw along with the gorgeous Emma Frost aka White Queen and the rest of the Hellfire Club made up this otherwise boring story, awesome. The fight scenes did not disappoint too but an all out duel between Magneto and Shaw would have been epic.

Was not able to go to any of the shows this week. Nice weekend at home. Signs of getting old. Ugh.

Currently listening to: xChorusx all day!
