Just came back from KL...Big Update...

I CARE ABOUT HARDCORE, BUT I HATE THE SCENE!!!

We just came back from Kuala Lumpur the other day and it was a fckn awesome experience. Watching IGNITE live was one of the best shows I've ever experienced (and I've been to a lot of shows (scene cred points here.hehe). They started their set with 'Bleeding!!!' and ripped through almost an hour's set of classic Ignite songs. From the classic 'Ash Return' (with a 'Hands On Stance intro!), to 'Who Sold Out Now?' and the anthem 'Embrace', the crowd went nuts. Zoli Teglas and company didn't let up. Of course they did 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' and the moment of the night, 'Live for Better Days' with Zoli singing only to a clean tone guitar. Goosebumps all over. My throat is still hurting from the non-stop singing-along to every song they played including a Misfits cover (guess what song..hehe). The Ignite guys were nice guys all around. I got a load of photos but my fuckn PC at work still won't allow me to upload the,. Definitely gonna upload them this weekend. A lot of good bands played that night including our good friends from Second Combat. Too bad they played a short set as it was getting late. Kids on the Move ripped through a good set ending it with a Have Heart cover. nice. We also met up once again with the awesome dudes from Driven Fear (Australia) and it was always nice hanging out with those guys.

It was awesome to hang out again with old friends and met some new ones along the way. The morning after, we went around KL doing tourist stuff and ate some pizza (nice break from eating all that nasi goreng, maggi goreng, veggie soup and roti canai..hehe), went to the Petronas Tower and did some shopping.

I have five copies of the Second Combat CD and a couple of extra Second Combat shirts if you want. Just meet me at the shows or send me a message. I still have Bystorm/Pulling Teeth split CDs. Check it out if you haven't already.

Thanks to Pali of Second Combat for letting us crash once agian in his house and driving us all around KL. Thanks bro, we owe you big time! Ein, Karen Ceasefire, Erin, Dee, Bart, Arwith and all of the guys we hung out with. We can't wait to be back! Bystorm will be doing an Indonesian tour next summer (March) and we'll definitely head to KL and maybe Singapore to play a couple of shows...

Updates...

Damn it. I've been trying to upload some pics for this blog for almost two weeks now but for some reason or another my PC at work can't seem to upload it. Anyway, I'll try to post some pics soon.

It has been a crazy June-July for the local scene and I was glad to be a part of it. To sum up:

MAGRUDERGRIND from DC visited the Philippines last June and it was one hell of an experience. They played 4 shows in 5 nights and managed to go swimming on their free day at Pagbilao, Quezon. The shows were fuckin awesome. The kids went wild with MG's thrashin' powerviolence songs and were always full of energy.

The following week came CRUX from Australia. Insane d-beat mayhem with Tragedy and His Hero is Gone. They played 3 shows: 2 in Quezon City and 1 in Malolos, Bulacan. Get a hold of theri split CD with Pazahora. Awesome.

THROW's release party was up next. It was held in Center for the Arts in Timog, Quezon City. We walked in after a Bystorm practice and it was CHOKECOCOI destroying the stage. THE BEAUTY OF DOUBT came next and it was non-stop sing-along, of course. MUSIC FRONT came up and then the "star" of the night, THROW. These guys need no introduction. The new CD did not disappoint, either I got one via trade from Ronald (TBOD, Counterflow). TAME THE TIKBALANG closed the show and I, for one, really enjoyed their set. Crowd kept urging them to play "Angst" but to no avail...

Up next were DRIVEN FEAR from Australia. These guys play fast hardcore in the vein of Comeback Kid and were non-stop dancers in the pit. A lot of bands scheduled that night cancelled but were aptly replaced with other bands: MIHARA, TOWARDS THE END and TAME THE TIKBALANG: all awesome bands. Crowd went nuts when TTT covered 'Sailin On' by the almighty Bad Brains. Other bands that played that night were Bystorm, TBOD, Noise Conspiracy Project. They played a show in Bulacan and again at Quezon City the following night.

I heard that some untoward incident happened at the Freedom Bar show of Driven Fear but I guess there will just be assholes everywhere. I apologize to Driven Fear for what happened and rest assured that it will never happened again. Bad weeds need to be plucked...

For some updates...

Over the weekend, me and Led (Major Malfunction) will be going to Kuala Lumpur to watch one of our favorite bands ever: IGNITE! Hell fuckin' yeah. I get to watch and sing along to one of the most influential bands (at least for me..hehe) ever. Plus I get to hang out with the cool KL kids. Awesome. Awesome.

Take-4 Upcoming Releases:

RICHARD COLLIER "For the Love of Death" CD
4-way split with KILL RATIO, ISTUKAS OVER DISNEYLAND, ESKAPO and LA GRITA CD
PILIPINAS THRASH DETONATION CD
BIOFEEDBACK Tribute CD

Plus, there are talks of BYSTORM participating in an international HOLY TERROR compilation with some of the most amazing band sin the world so you got to watch out for that and maybe another split or a full-length depending on how much material we have.

Upcoming Tours:

MY DISCO (Australia) October 29-31, 2008
CONQUEST FOR DEATH (ex-What Happens Next? - California) November 5-6, 2008
SECOND COMBAT (Malaysia) December 2008

If everything goes as planned, we will be releasing a Conquest For Death Discography for their Southeast Asian Tour, so watch out kids!!!

UPCOMING SHOWS:

Go to Santa Rosa City this weekend. Hongkong's SHEPHERD'S THE WEAK and KING LY CHEE will be playing one show there this Saturday along with some locals. Too bad we're going to miss that show...

Ok, that's it for now. I'll try to post some pics later...

Driven Fear Tour starts Tomorrow @ Dayo Bar, QC!

Check out DRIVEN FEAR tomorrow at Dayo Bar, Quezon City tomorrow!

Doors open at 7 PM. P120 at the door.

BYSTORM
MIHARA

NOISE CONSPIRACY PROJECT
NUCLEAR PUNISHMENT
KILL RATIO
THE BEAUTY OF DOUBT

Bring money for merch. Throw's new CD (Counterflow Records) will also be available at the show. We went to the release party last Saturday night and it was awesome. High point for me was TAME THE TIKBALANG'S rendition of Bad Brains' 'Sailin On'. Awesome guitar work by Boyet. Chokecocoi kicked ass once again.

I was trying earlier to update this blog but uploading pics doesn't seem to work at this time. Maybe later.

Tuesday at 2:17 PM

Hey everyone. It's been a hectic two weeks with Magrudergrind from DC and Crux from Australia visiting our shores. It's a Tuesday and I' getting sleepy at work so I figured I'll just post some random thoughts.

Next Tuesday will be the kick-off show for the Driven Fear (Australia) tour in the Philippines. The first show will be held at Dayo Bar, Quezon City. You can check out the flyer upstairs.

Unfortunately I just received word that some bands will not be able to play that show like Chokecocoi (to be replaced by Laguna's MIHARA), Sauna and Isvarah (who will be replaced by TOWARDS THE END from San Pablo). Anyway, the show should be really fun so come out and show your support. Give me some moshin'.

We went to the opening of the UAAP season at Araneta Center last Saturday. UST faced off against UE (always the perennial powerhouse, never the champion..hehe). Cruz had 26 points and 22 boards despite playing with a hamstring and ankle injury. UE led most of the way but the Tigers rallied. Missed free throws and other opportunities kept UST at bay and UE finally won. Next time, they won't be so lucky.

Afterwards, we ate at Greens' Resto in QC. We tried their embutido. Tsates pretty good actually. Kinda bland in some parts though. Can't go wrong with Sisig though. I bought some of it during the Crux tour and the band loved it, especially when i told them that the original version of the Tofu Sisig was it was taken from a pig's face. Good times.

Show your Wu-Tang Love! Classic Wu-Tang 'Asphalt Militia' shirt.

Here is an older Wu-Tang shirt that I always wore back in the day. Funny story. I was wearing this shirt in one of the shows that Dance of Decline/Feud was supposed to be playing along with some white Osiris shoes. Some dude was shouting "Bawal Hip-hop dito!" (No hip-hop allowed here!) and other shit to which I thought he was shouting at someone else. When I realized it was me who he was talking too, I found it funny and laughed. He got irked and tried to confront me. Fortunately for me, my reflexes was faster and I was able to dodge his punch. I hit him with a hard counterpunch. and another till he was already on the ground. Some guys with him wanted a piece of me but Darwin Collier and the rest of the T4 crew had my back. another guy tried to cheap shot me but he went down with a bloody nose. Haha. Those were the days.

Thanks to everyone who supported the Crux Tour!

Hey. Just like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped out at the recently concluded Crux Tour: the people of Non-Compliant Issue, Whatcore Records and Sampcore for putting up shows for the band; Led Major Malfunction for letting them crash in his 'bachelor's' pad; Arjelou for being the band roadie for the tour, as Crux said "We'd be lost without this guy"; thanks to everyone who came out and supported the show, it was an awesome time.

By the way, if you still haven't heard (if you're living in a rock or something..hehe), DRIVEN FEAR from Australia will be visiting our shores in two weeks time and it will be another f'n good time! Here are the tour dates:

July 15 (Tuesday) - Dayo Bar, Quezon City
July 16 (Wednesday) - Malolos, Bulacan
July 17 (Thursday) - Freedom Bar, Quezon City
July 18 (Friday) - Cebu City

You can check out the flier for the Cebu show below. Other fliers will be up by the weekend!

Before that, make sure you go to THROW's new album release party on July 12 (Saturday) at Center for the Arts, Timog, Quezon City. Chokecocoi will be playing this gig so you know its going to be sick. Other bands scheduled to play are The Beauty of Doubt, Tame the Tikbalang, Music Front among others. We'll be going to this show to set up a merch table of sorts so be there!

On another note, VICES FOR VIRTUE from Australia will be touring here from August 31 - September 2, so if anyone's interested in booking them a show, just send me a message and we'll work something out.

Currently playing: Abraxis demo, Assuck - everything, Infest "Mankind"

Driven Fear (Aussie Hardcore ) in 2 weeks!

Hee is the Philippine Leg flyer for Australia's DRIVEN FEAR tour of the Philippines from July 15 to 18, 2008. The first show will be at Dayo bar, Quezon City. Then its off to Bulacan the next day then to Freedom Bar, Quezon City of the 17th. They also managed to get a Cebu show on the 18th so it would be awesome for the Cebu hardcore crowd to get a glimpse of some Aussie Hardcore. Here's the flyer for the Cebu show. The other flyers will be up soon!

By the way, the final leg of the CRUX tour will be tonight at Freedom bar, Quezon City. so if you're not doing anything tonight (or if you are, drop it!) got to the show and support them! Don't forget to check out the Crux/Pazahora split CD. It's awesome.

Crux Tonight @ Malolos, Bulacan!

The Crux show last night was awesome. Although the crowd turn-out was a little smaller than expected, the people present had so much fun. Don't forget to buy the Crux/Pazahora split CD when you watch their show at Big 8 Restobar at Malolos, Bulacan tonight and at Freedom Bar, Quezon City tomorrow.

Gotta get back to work. Hyperacidity sucks. Fuck.

Currently listening to: Alkaline Trio 'Agony & Irony', Crux/Pazahora split CD
